Syllabus for 30% LDCE Assistant Commercial Manager (ACM)

  • Eligibility : Group C employees of Commercial department working Pay Band Rs. 9300-34800 with Grade Pay Rs. 4200/-and above with 5 years service in GP Rs. 4200 (including service rendered in corresponding pre-revised scales).
  • Apprenticeship period is also included for calculating minimum service.
  • Ministerial staff in Commercial Department should exercise a one-time option to appear for Group B exam in Personnel Department or Commercial Department. Option once exercised shall be final.

Promotion from Group D to C

  • Prescribed percentage (as given below) in nominated Group C categories are to be filled by promotion of Group D employees on selection on the basis of a written exam.
  • Group D staff who complete 3 years of regular service on Dec 31 will be considered  promotion if they apply.  The minimum service condition  does  not  apply  to  Scheduled  Castes  and  Scheduled  Tribes  candidates.

Promotion to Selection Posts

  • These are posts which have been declared as such by Railway Board.
  • Senior most employee in next lower grade are called to appear in the selection.
  • SC/ST employees are called against reserved vacancies.
  • 3 persons are called for one vacancy.
  • The  selection  for  promotion  to  a  selection  post  shall  be  made  on  the  basis  primarily  of  merits. (Ref 1)

Promotion to Non- Selection Posts

  • For non-selection posts selection is done based on seniority cum suitability. 
  • Non-selection  posts  will  be  filled  by  promotion  of  the  senior  most  suitable  Railway  servant  after suitability is determined  on  the  basis  of  the  record  of  service  and/or  departmental  tests .   
  • A senior person is rejected only when declared unfit. (Ref 2)

Procedure for conducting Aptitude Test in selection/promotion to safety categories of staff on Indian Railways

  • Aptitude tests shall be applicable to those candidates who qualify in the written tests for selection/promotion to the following safety categories of staff with a view to improve quality of personnel and operational safety.
  1. Assistant Station Master (ASM)
  2. Assistant Driver (Diesel/Electric) (ALP)
  3. Motorman (EMU/MEMU/DMU)
  4. Loco Pilots at the stage of deployment on high speed trains running above 110 kmph.
